OUR LIFE TOGETHER

Paul and Donna met on Maui, in Hawaii, where they both lived since 1983.  We met in church in 1985, became friends, grew to be good friends, and married in 1989.  Having both been married before, we received much counseling, put our children in the mix (Paul's two--Faith and Luke, and Donna's one--Jon), and have had two children of our own--Aaron and Amy.  Add a son-in-law, Wade Albright (Faith's husband), and a grandson, Shawn (and his beautiful family Jeff & Donica Patchell, and Maddie and Darrin), and we have quite a beautiful family.  And then there are grandparents, Bill and Jeri Corp (Donna's folks) back in Philadelphia, Jack & Wunnie Fleuridas in N.J., and Elle in California, and then there are those who have passed on from this life, whose memories bring much joy ............ well, on life goes.

OUR FAITH

Our Christian faith is central to our lives together.  "WE LOVE BECAUSE HE (GOD) FIRST LOVED US,"  (quoted from I John 4:19) is as true now as when it was written nearly 2,000 years ago.  True believers in the Church are really and truly our family as well.  We have Church friends around the world, and with the connection that we have spiritually, new (to us) parts of our 'family' are discovered regularly as we meet new friends in the Church world.  Currently, we fellowship with believers in various fellowships, as well as socially from time to time.  We believe in the world-wide universal Church, which consists of true believers wherever they may be found, with no bounds or barriers that man can erect that are valid in the eyes of God.

OUR HOME

In 1997, with very little building experience, we began building a new home on part of a farm that Paul's family had owned.  We are stewards of about 37 acres, including roughly 22 acres of woods.  We moved into our new home in 1998, even though it was not fully finished, and we have been putting the 'finishing touches' on it ever since.  It is built out of I.C.E.â blocks (insulated concrete forms made from Styrofoam, stacked and filled with concrete), and we included a number of other energy saving features as well.  We also have a pole barn workshop where we lived for nearly a year while we were building our house--with 4 kids, and no running water in the place.  We have a wood-burning stove in the workshop and the house, to help keep down the costs of heating with the conventional LP furnace. 

It is a real joy to return to the country home we have built, any time we are away for even a day. 

Our life includes a large garden, including asparagus, rhubarb, fruit trees, wild berries & nuts, beehives, and even hunting on our property.  We do a lot of old-fashioned home cooking and canning and food storage, which takes a lot of work, but which is also quite worth the effort.

OUR BUSINESS

Founded in 1974 by Paul, Hayden Services has 30 years of industry experience.  Paul started in business in southern California (Orange County) doing window washing, and has done business in the Chicago area (3 years), in and around Iowa City, Iowa (4+ years), for a short time again in southern California, and on the island of Maui in Hawaii (11 years as Seabreeze Carpet Cleaning).  Most recently, Paul and wife Donna live in the country near Illiopolis, east of the Springfield area of central Illinois since 1994.

Throughout the process of building our home, we learned or honed our knowledge and skills that have become central to our business--we do not specialize in one thing, but offer a real variety of related services.  Our commitment is to use our experience and expertise in all our services to achieve customer satisfaction that can last a lifetime!  Many of our customers become our friends as well as clients.
